Was Jolyon Elsie's son? It was clear that Elsie's father had abused her, but the only explicit reference to a physical injury was a burst eardrum. Elsie's relationship with her mother was strained because her mother didn't intervene when her father was abusing her. It was mentioned that Elsie had 'bled' for Jolyon and that her mother ignored her 'bleeding and screaming'; she calls Jolyon 'my boy'. What do you think?

Do you think a man would be interested in this book or is it mostly formed around female themes? Not that a man wouldnt be interested in that, but I like to gift books that have themes the reader can relate to. Thank you!
