She wasn't too interested in it at first, but now she's usually holding it in the morning. I'd say putting it in a crib or play pen is a good idea and they'll bond to it as they need to.

And you're probably fine on the timeouts if you're not needing them. My daughter is 16 months and we've only done a few but we try to keep it in mind for when she does something really bad (like hitting the pets). (less)
