Andrew Karre That short story is the basis for this 400+ page novel. Same characters and setting, but much more of their stories.

Kath takes Lilly to a G.A.A. event where there is bowling. I know of the Gay Activist Alliance but I'm sure this is not that. What is this G.A.A.? It wasn't in the historical notes at the end, either! Also, absolutely love this book! <3

I know the period where the book take place is quite old but it is normal how much, the main character say the n word ? Idk but I feel really inconfortable knowing I'm a POC too.

The author explains in her author's note that she used terms that would have been used historically in that period. This is why she also used Oriental, which is not an appropriate term either. That said, neither of these appear too often in the book - probably fewer than 10 times. (less)
