I think it would depend on the age of the YA reader: although the book has characters who are children, there are indeed several adult situations and it was never intended as a children's book. For older teenagers, I can't see that there would be an issue; but there are some sexual scenes which you might want to check before suggesting it to a younger reader. Hope that helps :-)(less)
