It has tons of "I hate you" that was pretty clearly shown in the teasers on the blog. The blog also pretty clearly stated there will be sex (small spoiler: it's consensual, in case someone was worried). This isn't the end of the story, and just like in other books by these authors, all isn't roses between the leads at the end of the first book. They both have HUGE trust issues. (One difference from KD and Hidden Legacy is that this is written almost equally between Hugh and Elara POV, so it's fun to see inside both their heads.)(less)

He is Roland's Warlord and almost like a surrogate son to Roland. Unfortunately, Roland is kind of a crappy Dad. So, he abandons Hugh as soon as Hugh fails him by not delivering Kate. Some of the things that Hugh is responsible for are trying to seduce Kate for Roland's approval, he killed Voron--Kate's foster father, he kept Christopher in a cage, he kept Kate and Ghastek in a water hole until they almost died, he had a mole on the Pack council, he broke both of Curran's legs and almost killed him, and his Iron Dogs killed Aunt B of the Bouda clan. On the other hand, he did all that under Roland's influence. Roland took away all guilt and made him a slave. A well-dressed and well-taken care of slave, but a slave nonetheless to his blood. He's a guy that even Kate feels sympathy for, because his evil deeds weren't really his, but he had to do them anyway. (less)
