It was very low-key and quite honestly I may be remembering incorrectly and there was nothing. However, I know there was one reference to someone being a bastard. It also contained minor implied sexual situations but there was no blow by blow descriptions. One more thing you might want to know is there was reference to a rape but I don't believe that word was ever precisely used, you just had to figure it out from the context. (less)

If you assume it was a typo, I think this also contributed to the house not being built well, because they were rushing (in the winter) to complete it. (less)

Nadine in NY Jones the blizzard of 1899 was real - I looked it up, and the temperatures (-10 F) she mentions in the book are factual for the date.
