Book one was great but after reading the prequel there was a far better understanding of the story and series of events. While each book can stand on its own as a good read certain situations, plots and characters only truly come to light with an understanding of the whole story.

I just completed Book 3 and I too, feel like this seems like an endless cycle. I'm not sure if this is accurate or will help, but I think the current Age, The Third Age is special because it's supposed to be the 'Last Battle'. If I understand correctly, this will be the absolute final battle which will mean the Dark One cannot rise again. However, the most important question remains - will Rand be able to defeat the Dark One (not just seal him), without causing another Breaking of the World like Lews Therin Telamon did in the Second Age?
