Am I the only one who feels this unsettling? This happens after the misunderstanding / conflict between the main characters. The hero talks nearly one hour with his ex and she is positive that they'll get back together. Does that mean he led her (ex) on instead of apologizing and telling her he's in love with someone else and maybe they could be friends?

I think he was trying to let her down gently but she was being pushy. Also, he was probably trying not to be a dick to an ex-girlfriend for the first time ever and have a meaningful follow-up conversation with her, which she twisted in her own mind into a reconciliation conversation. Finally, I think she probably sensed that Libby had a thing for Justin and was trying to warn her off and mark her territory on Justin. So she was just being a jealous, possessive, class-A bitch.(less)
