I get why her point of view was added, but it felt like her story was too rushed and not thought out well enough. It did completely pull you away from the Essie/Roarke storyline too often.(less)

There's an early section where Essie shames her mother for only being pro-life when the cameras were on, because it spoke to the demographic. This book screamed "Duggar" to me!
I was a Duggar fan for a while with their original show. The fact that their kids might not have been perfect didn't ruin that for me, as it just shows that everyone is fallible, and the only thing they specifically did worse than anyone else was make out they were holier-than-thou. If not for that - well many families have problems, and they could too.

This led me to have a few questions: (1) might the Duggars actually sue over this? (2) why did this book get such high ratings from so many readers? and (3) do you really think the Duggars are that "fake"? (because that was what most upset me in the book - to think that these reality shows are so totally scripted; filming the back-story of the romance etc. It really bothered me. (less)
