One question - why is it called 'Before Mars' when literally all the action (flashbacks excepted) takes place ON MARS? (Not a criticism. Just curious!)

Now that I've read Before Mars, I confess I don't have a ready answer. Maybe because so much of what shapes Anna occurs earlier in her life, and because she didn't really understand a lot about her life (like what her parents really did, what really happened to her father, and her complicated feelings about her husband and daughter) until she went to Mars? She didn't appreciate all that happened to her "before Mars" until she got to Mars. Titles are tricky. (less)
