This book is different in some aspects, but I've read it at least two or three times now. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like it really captures the whimsy and wonder of the original and takes it in a dark (but not too dark) direction. I feel like Peter himself remains very constant, which works because of his character.
So yes, I thought it was worth it. It's not long and might even be found at a library or a used bookstore if you're not looking to pay full price.(less)
