I am wondering what the demographic of reviewers is? I can honestly tell you, this was one of the most awful books I have read. I am a 52 year old professional and prolific reader. When I read the reviews posted here, I was all in. It was everything I could do do make myself finish it, hoping it would get better. What am I missing?

It was a bit of an epiphany for me to make the connection that Flynn was a last name, and I liked how the author wove their stories (and time lines) separately. It felt like a Pulp Fiction homage to me; characters traversing their own paths as minor players in someone elses lives. I had Blake imaged so well in my head until I 'saw' him through a different characters eyes. It was a lovely if sad story.

Sometimes I've experienced books that don't translate to a good 'listen' or vice versa. Perhaps it was a better listen then 'read'? (less)

This is the second book I've read by Ivy Pochoda. In the earlier one, Visitation Street, one of the main characters lost his father to a random shooting outside their Brooklyn project. Was that shooter Ren, from this novel, who has spent years in juvie after accidentally shooting a family man who haunts him now.?
