Is this a book based on which a nice TV series has been produced? I remember that it was a good TV series, not a shallow soap opera like they produce nowadays. I remember this was a saga of Raskens family, people that lived a down-to-earth life, full of hardship and no bullshit, no spoiled children mutilated by "gender neutral" misandry at schools, and no feministic men-hating excesses of present day Sweden.

I haven't read this book but the other 4 great books Vilhelm Moberg wrote about the Swedish family who emigrated to the US. The Emigrants, Unto a Good Land, The Settlers and the last letter home. Wilhmelm Moberg did a lot of research before he wrote the books. He talked with the people who themselves had emigrated from Sweden. I've read them both in Swedish before I moved the the US and later in English. They are great books.(less)
