What is the writing format used by author called, is there a name for it? The way we were introduced to the characters w/o knowing how they played a part in the protagonist life or even before knowing who the protagonist was. I've read books by other authors written in same-to-similar manner & would like to avoid them in the future. Is there a name associated to this type writing, much like w/ biological taxonomy?

In the case of this book it's a healthy mix of: thriller, historical fiction, supernatural, contemporary and sci-fi. While Universal Pen has been used by many authors, it's tough to pull off unless your writing is seamless and non-clunky. I wish more folks would "take a chance" on books like this.
