I do believe people often believe their own distorted version of reality, whether it's to make themselves feel more successful and attractive or just to be able to live with their actions. And I agree it was interesting and different to have the book narrated from the twisted perpetrator's perspective. (less)

I need some clearing up. Paul tells us he grew up poor. Barely had anything to eat, wore baggy clothes to school, etc. Then he says he lives next to his parents in a wealthy neighborhood. Were his parents poor? or was his perspective so messed up that the idea of having the smallest house on the block meant that he was poor to himself.

I thought that the beginning of the book was pretty slow. I would have preferred a quicker entry into the ides behind the idea behind the book with more hints at Paul's character..Maybe written as more of a flashback with you wondering how he got there. I almost put he book down when they got to the cottage and just before I did, I read a few pages near the end and then realized that something was immenent..?
