If you've had any experience with groups of people of any type, you know that some people can be very catty and unrealistic. The protagonist of this book is able to deal with other parents in ways that we are all dying to, but don't have the nerve. I laughed out loud, not something I do often while reading.(less)

The secret love affair was almost a second story, mystery to be solved along side the communication that goes on between any school, parents, and teachers or really any group that is connected for one main purpose, but not for everything else. They’re all connected because of their children and providing activities, entertainment, and education. They’re also connected because they live in the same community. But outside of this, they have different places of business, houses of worship, hobbies, commitments, other outside activities. And when they’re not in school working towards a common goal, they don’t really give the secret affair much thought at all. So no, I don’t think it was build up to an affair. I think it was build up to the end of the year; the beginning of summer; and then next year will be a new classroom, new teacher. (less)
