Do I have to read the whole series first before reading this book? Or can I just read this one?

John Hanson No. This is a standalone story, and the author fills in the few gaps.

Unanswered Questions (1)

I cannot finish this book as it is too slow and nothing is going on. Will someone please tell me what happened to his parents? I can't read hundreds more pages of this slow moving plot.
