I found it to be a real balm, as someone who grew up in the evangelical church and has been an atheist for a long while. The triggers you mentioned aren't really present in the book. Flinders own spiritual practices seem more built around west coast transcendentalism. I think that's a gross and likely insulting mischaracterization, but the specifics elude me and I read this late last year.

Flinders introduces the reader to lesser known historical figures and central figures in the Veda - all female, and they function like her chosen family of ancestors. It's a deep and personal reflection with many hard won revelations.
