I read this book in 1955. I bought a used copy at Amazon and tho the story is similar changes have been made from the original. What is going on. Says book first published in 1988?

Seems that it's always best to try to find early editions. They can be hard to find and kind of pricey, though. I just started reading a 1988 edition of Crimson Roses last night -- loving it already, but in light of your comment, Susan, I wish I'd taken the time to search for an older edition. (less)
