I am nearly at page 100 and I am really not enjoying this book! This is disconcerting as everyone else raves about it! Is it me or is the book? Should I persevere?

Bo A painful waste of time. It is unbelievable to me that it has favorable reviews. Narcissistic, sophomoric, and tedious.

Can somebody recommend similar books? Books that tell a story in the real world but with the same amount of adventure and philosophy in it?

This book is about a herion addict that is trying to find his way through Bombay. It is actually very expectant of him to be as you called it "cheezy". But in fact, he is just on a spiritual journey in one of the world's most spiritual places. So I am actually surprised that you didn't see all those spiritual philosophies coming. I mean what did you expect ?

While I myself enjoyed it, I understand that others might not. But to answer your question, I must say it even gets more philosophical that if you don't like how it is going now you will probably would want to burn the book later on. So...I advise you to accept it and embrace it. Or just stop reading it because its long and it only gets more "cheezy". (less)
