First you have to define stereotype: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

Keep in mind there are plenty of jocks that don't fit the stereotype. However, the character in question does.

Second, you have to ask yourself what a stereotypical jock is?

When I think of a STEREOTYPICAL jock, I think of a guy who thinks he is a better than people because of the sport he plays, doesn't think of anyone but himself, thinks he can get girls/woman because he is a guy, and doesn't totally understand the concept that intoxicated women can't consent.
If we take my definition of a STEREOTYPICAL jock, and color him white, he has white privilege.
Why???
Because a STEREOTYPICAL jock hasn't even sat down to think about what kind of privilege he has been born with so that answers the question and I really needn't go on. (less)

It covers a lot of issues about sex in today's world - porn addiction, having expectations that sex in real life is or should be like the sex that is depicted in porn, for example. How sex in hook-ups can be both liberating and at the same time shallow and fraught with misunderstandings. Some characters are bisexual, another is transgender, and there are older people navigating the changes in sexual mores of the day. Fascinating. And I think this writer is terrific - despite the somber topics, this book can be quite funny and the characters seem like they could be real, each one has a genuine voice. I highly recommend it. George seems unlikely to have any kind of dummy phone number and the text happened before her class with Julian began.(less)
