My question is What happened at the end was it an ambiguous ending, where the reader decides the ending & how they want it? Any wisdom would be helpful thanks. I read the first book was thrilled to find a sequel. The sequel was what I expected heart-wrenching and rough, the Kelley sisters, did what they said they would do.

This says that is it the second book in the series, but it looks like it might be following a different character than the first one. Does anyone know if you have to read the first one (One Thousand White Women) to understand and enjoy this one?
