Can I read this trilogy as a standalone set or do I need to read previous trilogies/series for it to make sense?
David Myers I hadn't read any of her other work, and I wouldn't say you NEED to in order to follow the story - she mostly develops the characters from scratch.

However the world is obviously pretty alien and I found myself a little lost with some of the places/cultures, so maybe starting with the Eternal Sky Trilogy (set in the same universe) would have helped. (less)
