I found this book awfully frustrating, I read it in English and perhaps it lost a lot. Was wondering if anyone else felt this frustration?

Au début de ce livre (p.35), la vieille dame fait référence à un roman qui a pour sujet un chat qui est témoin d un meurt c'est lui qui guide le lecteur vers l assassin... connaissez vous le titre et l auteur de ce roman?

Not really a good read for me . Too many threads. Disjointed .Am I missing something? Un sympathetic characters.
