I'm really confused by the caste system in this book. Does anyone know what makes someone a blessed? I thought it meant they were nobility but then Girton says to Drusl that's he no blessed, but wouldn't his alias be?

For those who have read the sequels, are they closer to the Boneships books in terms of language/action/worldbuilding? I'd like to give them a chance as this was apparently an early effort, but my library doesn't have them and I'm leery of purchasing them after not really liking this first one.

What is the recommended reading age / content rating for this series?

Is there significant romance in this trilogy? I'm on the fence about reading it but knowing if there's good romance would encourage me to start it.

Is the map that comes with the hardback blood of assassins anywhere on the net? I have ebook age of assassin's and would love to be able to reference it while reading. Even if it's on authors blog or something. Map with fantasy book should be standard fare.
