Do I have to know the video game franchise to enjoy this book or can I also enjoy it without any knowledge? I adore Valente´s writing and am therefore interested in this book.

But the story is really good and the first part of the book has the characters going over things from the past, give a lot of character background to work with. If you like Valente's writing, I'd give the book a try. I wrote my review after you asked this question so maybe it'll help you decide. I really liked some of the characters a lot and I think that had to do with Valente's writing. (less)
