I read a couple of these books-- before Sally--and they were pretty good. Now with Sally they all stink, Sally just stops the action and and shuts down the entire story. Roger: WHY oh why did you saddle Mac with a Sally?

Is this book connected with the prequel "First Case (McRyan Mystery Series, #0.5)". I'm into page 10 and I see that at the beginning Rubens talks about some prior exchange with Mac. Did this exchange take place in the prequel book (the only one I haven't read yet)?
