It's also sometimes compared to Coraline by Neil Gaimen, though that was a decade later. Coraline was influenced by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, so I'd say it's fair to say there's a bit of that in there too. Anyway, this is all speculation about one of my favorite authors and books!(less)

Emma This is a story meant for children and so it does not have any gore in it. And it is not bone-shaking scary, it is more creepy scary!
