Robert Louis Stevenson takes a fictional character and a real historical figure intertwining them together to fill in the gaps to what could have really happened during the Appin Murder of 1752, and where one of the suspects of the murder could have eluded off to when trying to escape the wrongful blame of events.(less)

Wow this book sucked. Not much actually happened. I don't even think he really got kidnapped. Just knocked on a head and thrown on a ship. Why do people like this book?

I was about to go to Scotland for a family trip and we saw that there was the comedic play version of this book playing in Glasgow really close to where we were staying. So we bought tickets and the show was amazing but before I went I wanted to read the book so I wouldnt be spoiled out of my mind. I absolutely loved it. I loved the characters, the setting, the adventure. This book mainly wasnt about how I thought it was about how I felt after I read it. I hope this helps.(less)
