All of the people in the book apparently did exist as the author recounts their lives post-story in the afterward. An extraordinary story to be sure.(less)
Michael Lella Happy to say that there are on-going negotiations with major producers in Hollywood as I write this today. We should know something soon.

I thought Mark Sullivan made an early reference to being beneath a scarlet sky somewhere, but it was just in passing. The initial drafts changed names from "North Of Milan" to "Perilous" to "None Shall Sleep". Mark Sullivan's goal is to get it out there to as many people as possible...My dad actually had a good rapport with General Leyers, especially after saving his life. I'm surprised now how well he speaks of Leyers now.... My father is telling me that "most" of the German soldiers in Northern Italy, were polite. Keep in mind that the Italian's were "brothers-in-arms" with the German's up until the Partisan's and Resistance started their undercover assassinations of Fascist's and German soldiers. When the tied started turning after it became clear that the Allies were gaining the advantage, there were many "terrorist-type" of killings that went on against the Germans and Fascist's who held out. My dad believes now that Leyers new he was a spy at some point, but he dowsn't know when. (less)
