I bought the book because of the title ( :-) ) but it left me very disappointed. Although I liked the writing, I was constantly wondering, so, when is the story about the wolves starting, it never did. Why did she call it 'the tenderness of wolves'?

Parker asks Mrs Ross her name and she says he has used it enough. Does she mean the formality of "Mrs Ross" or have I missed her christian name somewhere?

Why was Mrs. Ross in an asylum in Edinburgh and how did she manage to leave it with her husband before emigrating to Canada?

If I recall her mother killed herself and her father feated his daughter would suffe…moreHer father placed her in the aslym after the death of her mother. I think she was released becasuse she was deemed to be “cured” though the book is vague in that and it does not say exactly how she and Mr. Ross met but at somehow they met each other during her stay at the aslym.
