Wow, this seems super fucking albiest. Calling mentally ill people 'Crazies' and 'Nutjobs', I shouldn't even explain what wrong w/ that. The description insists that Jeff's "perfectly fine, perfectly normal" because as we all know, if you've been institutionalized, or are neurodivergent, you're abnormal, weird, crazy, and totally not 'fine'. Way to lose a reader before you even get into the first chapter?

On another note, this book is far from "ableist" (which, by the way, is the correct spelling of that stupid word). If anything, the biggest theme IN the book is that mental disabilities don't make a person less than.

The irony of this comment/complaint is that you've gone and judged the book just as superficially as the main character initially judges his fellow mental patients. What does that say about you, huh?(less)

Any good books that are quite like this? Reading it felt real, the characters felt real and the events felt real and I related to it all too much. So far I've not been able to find a book quite like this, at least none that tackle both heavy subjects like suicide and being LGBT (more specifically, a gay male.) If you know of any books like this, please let me know.
