A lot of little things are missed in the movie or aren't interpreted the right way, so to really get a feel for the characters and the mood, it is a good idea to read it all first.
you would miss a lot of things and not understand it all if you watch first.

Most definitely the best series ever. Are there any films? Yes, films not film. There is a film for every single one starring Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan. I would definitely read and watch it over again. I have fallen in love with it. I love all the drama, romance and fantasy that goes on with it. Its very hard to pick a favourite, but I guess Twilight is the best.

The fourth book I believe is representing the hard choices Bella has to make and how those choices will change her future forever. (less)
