Does anyone have a short reading excerpt other than the audio version? I do not care for the voice and inflection/tone of what I heard on Amazon (it distracted me and I couldn't pay attention to the words)b ut would like to try the series as it was highly recommended reading.

I enjoyed this book but it wasn't really what I was looking for. I wanted a super scary, nail-biting, don't-read-at-night mystery. This book had its creepy parts but didn't much scare me at all. Does anyone have any recs for a scarier thriller? Whether by Scottoline or anyone else?
