If some …moreHaving read other records of the same early events in this book, I cannot see for one moment why there should be a caveat against reading it. If some can't handle this, they may not be handling life. And then this book SHOULD be read. Some of the most poignant and disturbing descriptions of Holocaust experiences are found in poetry and short stories and film, and this book is not one to be avoided but embraced. It is a deeply positive book. The real-life Hitler and his supporters are the only ones who should be shocked or afraid of what they have done and what it tells us about them. And not every German soldier was cruel! It might also motivate us to work at identifying and denouncing present-day Hitlers amongst us - and there are many. (less)
