I have just finished this book? How different are the other three? I am somewhat intrigued by the setting but found the story itself bland.

What I mean is that the plot/characters are less the focus and the ideas alongside the writing itself take more of a centre stage with most everything being a metaphor or representation that is constantly shifting with each story.

Does anyone know what the Name Stars are? (page 49, of my edition :"The Name Stars burned with a chilly emerald fire: for millennia they had hung there, spelling two words in a forgotten language ...") My guess is a futuristic neon signing, saying something very mundane, like "No Vacancies." But I wonder if anyone else has any ideas, or if Harrisson comes back to it in one of the later Viriconium novels ...
