He killed Elizabeth and Elizabeth's husband killed himself after being accused of her murder.
Lloyd then suggests to his sister Lily to befriend the orphaned Miles. Miles and Lily fall in love and get married. They have a child Eva. Lloyd and his wife Judith have a son, Edward.
Miles builds a machine to talk to the dead. His mom, Elizabeth, tells him that Lloyd killed her. Miles tries to kill Lloyd with fire.
Edward is accused of setting the fire. He is sent away. Miles takes him from that place and raises him as his son, Errol.
Lloyd didn't die. He comes back for revenge and the machine so he can tell Elizabeth he is sorry. Lily and Eva get away and become homeless.
Lloyd continues to stalk them to get the plans for the machine.(less)
