I relate to each character in a different way. Like Alex, I am the oldest child. Like Emily, (when I was a young) I was much too naïve. like Sidra, I am sometimes a little reserved, or should I say boujee (don't judge me on the spelling of the word, it's like 10,000 ways to say it :-)). Like Malajia....well, I don't relate as much with her, other than the fact that I can be a bit silly at times.

I wouldn't say that any of them were based off of me, as this is a fiction series. However, the character that I do relate to the most is Chasity. When I was in college and even in the years following, I was very guarded. I had a wall up and felt that I didn't need any friends in my life. I wasn't as harsh as she was (though some of the people close to me would beg to differ) and I didn't have the same upbringing. But personal experiences made me bitter and that attitude was certainly there. It took some very persistent and patient people to draw me out from behind my wall, and those people are some of my best friends to this day. (less)
