Yes absolutely "clean" and would be a real eye-opener to students as it was to me (over 60). I had never heard of the Mass Observation diaries.
Day to day life is mundane and mostly away from the wartime action as regards bombing but the local people are made to take in refugees from the bombing and they must join various organisations to play their part in the war effort. Many, many points for classroom discussion.(less)
