Anyone else from Alaska find this unbelievable? There are no snakes in rivers here. No deer near Yukon. No brick schools near the Yukon. No frogs or crickets in Homer or north of there. WTH Eggers? No fact checkers? And why no Alaska Native people, who are everywhere, esp on the Yukon?

I am currently reading this, and while the book is entertaining, I do not enjoy how Josie uses every situation to pontificate or generalize about the way life is or how it ideally should be. Maybe it is because I am an older woman who has already taken her journey and the themes are old news to me. I do not yet know how seriously Eggers takes himself or his protagonist. Is she meant to be profound, or the fool?

She does have a tendency to overthink when it is of no consequence and to underthink when it matters, but I think that's part of who she is.(less)

Is Egger's new book "Heroes of the Frontier" written more so like "The Circle" and "What is the What" or "Your Fathers…"? (I'm concerned b/c I hated the vernacular writing style of the former two, but I appreciated the wit of the latter.)
