I think the reason you felt at a distance from Casper is that we only see him through Ginger's eyes and for most of the time we spend with him, Ginger is a young teen. She doesn't really understand him and she doesn't even know why she doesn't like him; it's a feeling she has. She also doesn't fully understand what's going on between Glory and Casper but again, she senses it's not good. Later, as an adult, she wonders whether she misjudged him. And we are then left to wonder about that too.(less)
