It could have almost been a follow-up to the movi…moreWithout having read your question first, I just put my own reference to the movie Reds in my review! It could have almost been a follow-up to the movie, since it took place after the Revolutionary period. Interestingly, the quoted review makes reference to Dr. Zhivago - another great movie about Russia. But Zhivago was about Russians in Russia - and this book is more about Americans in Russia, with the same kind of cynicism. It's probably why the tone felt more like Reds than Zhivago. So yes - I guess great minds think alike.(less)
