I just picked up "Love in Bloom" at the $1 store and thought it was a cute, fun read. When I looked up the author on here I realized that it was #2 in the Heart Lake Series. Do I need to read them in order, or are they pretty much stand alone with reoccurring characters? I hadn't felt like I was missing anything in the book I read but there may have been character development/introduction in the first book? Thanks!

It seems to me that the town is the major continuing character, and some characters from one book may show up in another, but it doesn't seem as if they are true sequels.
