Shuri was "about sixteen" when she married the rom baro, so Kev was either 14 or 18. It is said that he was left for dead by his tribe a short time after that so this is his age when he was found by the Hathaways. I think 18 is more likely, because of Cam's age.

As for Cam's age: in 1848 he is "approaching 30", which would mean he was born around 1818-20.

As Kev is the older brother he would have to be born before Cam, obviously, so 1818 is most likely.

Now, Win was 26 in 1851 (chapter 11). This makes her birth date likely to be around 1825. She met Kev in 1836 (12 years before the first chapter set in 1848), which would make her 11-12 back when Kev was found.

So my "math" yields the following conclusions:
Kev - born 1818
Cam - born 1819/20
Win - born 1925

I can't be certain, of course, but I get the impression that Kev's precise age was never mentioned because of the uncomfortable fact that he might have been an adult while Win was a young girl when they first met. The implications are that they felt attraction from the beginning. It is also possible that the author did not originally mean for Kev to be older than Cam, but because of the "Irish heritage" subplot, he had to be. Hence the age confusion and some hand waving. :) (less)

We're never told by how many years but since she is 26 in this book and Kev is older than Cam (his brother) who is about 30, they're likely 5 years apart or so. (less)
