This question is for those who have read both this book and Dan Brown's Angels and Demons, not just the Cliffnotes or summary of both. How different or similar are the two books? Conclave seems relatively intriguing, but I don't want to feel like I'm reading the same book twice... Does Robert Harris's book still contain new information through the use of historical fiction as well as enjoyment for Dan Brown fans?

Is this an historical thriller or contemporary?

I'd rather discuss thriller ;-) - to me, yes, it is, but is not gory, no dead bodies all over (just a Pope died in his sleep, natural cause) - it is like political thriller/drama, just to set the right expectations.
So a thriller for those who normally dislike the genre(less)
