They also refer to the shaman as a najd. According to Wikipedia, the Pite Sami (Sweden/Norway) name for a shaman is najjde. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noaidi

Somehow the suggestion of both North America and Siberia has got into the goodreads book description. I think they're both wrong. North America is mentioned in just about every book description I can see on the web.(less)
