I think it was worth it, but I hadn't read the others. Still, First Bones was my favorite of the four.(less)

But there is a story that progresses throughout the series which mainly has to do with the main character’s personal life. My recommendation: if you’re in it for the plot and the mystery, read in any order. If you’re in it for the characters, read the whole thing in order.(less)
