Hello! I just got this book today, but I have never read anything from Alastair Reynolds - will I still be able to read, understand and enjoy this, or is there a specific order I need to read the books in?

I felt that the stories are kinda sorted by it's distance in the future, so the first book is the closest to the present and they will advance in time in the next story(less)
