Hi Caroline, I see your post is pretty old by now, but I just bumped into it now, while I am reading this book.
I hope you changed your mind. I think the book isn't about boys or girls, or geniuses. I find it's about where creativity and opportunity hides, whoever finds it. The introduction talks about Vera Brandes and Keith Jarret. I thought it was a great example. After all it was the boys who had to get the right piano who messed it up and the girl who turned Keith's mind around. Do we care about gender anyways in this context?(less)
