Too often, we put the FFs on a pedestal, but it's important to recognize that they were human, too. Reading about Hamilton's sex life (affairs etc.) shows us that he wasn't perfect and did plenty of questionable things. However, overall, he improved our country, despite his shortcomings as a husband and father.(less)

Similar in some ways, and in others, not so much!

For example, the book starts in St. Croix and describes Ham's voyage to New York City, which is where the musical starts also. There is a lot of similarity in the war content of this book. Hammie's desire to fight is expressed in the musical and book alike.

The things I found to be the most dissimilar is the relationship between Angelica & Eliza. In the musical they are very close and loving towards one another. In the book they are more jealous and in competition with one another (I don't know which is more realistic, but that's how it is). There is a lot less Aaron Burr in the book until the very end when the duel commences.

Some of the songs that I think are represented the most similarly in the musical are Stay Alive, Ten Duel Commandments, Yorktown, Say No To This, We Know (with a different cast of people), Hurricane, Blow Us All Away, Stay Alive (Reprise), and The World Was Wide Enough.
